janicenickoleAs long as Janice Nickole can remember Interior Design was always her passion.  At the tender age of ten, she started her first interior design project; her very own bedroom design.

“I still remember the day… my whole portfolio was created and laid out neatly on my bed.  I had everything from color concepts, design style, furniture and fabrics all selected for my first big project.  My father walked in and I boldly told him that this is going to be my bedroom very soon.  And then he helped me put it together.”

Author of  the widely popular book, “Secrets To Home Decorating Success” Janice Nickole Price has been designing beautiful homes for over twenty years.  Known for her “casual elegance” design philosophy, Janice received her education from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and went on to a Directors position of a very prestigious Home Expo Design Company.

Her projects include the intensive care unit of The Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, The Designer’s Emporium tabloid journal written for the Architectural Industry for the City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and many home interior projects of Residential Design.

What does Janice consider to be one of her best but most challenging design achievements?

“When I had the opportunity to help redesign The Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.  The Waiting Room was most challenging because terminally ill children and their families spent time together in this room.  We wanted to create a room that was tranquil, peaceful and very comfortable– and special care was taken to make sure that the room felt more like their home and not a cold institution.  It was a very rewarding experience.”

Ask Janice what her definition of success is and she will answer you this way:

“To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.  This is to have succeeded.”
